What’s in favour of a trip to The Gambia in 2025?
A summer holiday in The Gambia 2025 promises sun, beautiful beaches and African hospitality. Discover Kololi or Brufut Beach, take a boat trip in the Gambia river delta or visit the lively Albert Market in Banjul. Nature lovers will enjoy the Abuko Nature Park, while culture vultures can explore historic slave trade sites on Kunta Kinteh Island. The Gambia is safe, relatively inexpensive and full of exotic experiences. According to experienced Africa experts, it’s perfect for a relaxing or adventurous summer holiday!
Perfect year-round and especially winter holiday destination:
Even in autumn or winter, a trip to The Gambia and a stay at Dabo House is a very good idea to take a holiday in Africa’s smallest country. It takes around 7 hours by plane (e.g. from Brussels) to reach Banjul in West Africa. But almost 4,000 hours of sunshine are a good reason, why so many Europeans are visiting The Gambia and some even stay in the smallest country of Africa for a long time…
Flights from Europe to Banjul:
You can fly cheaply via Barcelona, Vueling occasionally offers cheap flights if you are flexible… It is worth looking a little ahead at the flight prices. For example, if you fly from Barcelona to Banjul on 29 April, you will pay a reasonable 140 US $, one way, as of 18 March 2025. However, flight prices change quickly, so the motto is: book quickly to get the best price! In this example, the traveller gets 6.30 hours of pure flight time for the price of a short-haul flight.
Occasionally there are bargain prices
Use search engines like Skyscanner, Google Flights or Kayak and select the ‘Flexible Dates’ option to see the cheapest days of the month. Flights during the week (Tuesday or Wednesday) are often cheaper than at the weekend. There are often direct flights to Banjul with Brussels Airlines. Alternatively, you can find cheap options with airlines such as TUI fly Belgium or Royal Air Maroc with one stop. Vueling and Tui Belgium are having from time to time really cheap flights, but it takes a moment to catch them…

Dabo House employee Salif supports hybasia’s permaculture project
The team at the guest house is very interested in supporting permaculture. Dabo House and its crew provide advice and support to several aid organisations involved in reforestation, organic farming and, above all, permaculture. The co-operation with the US American Stephanie Nwadiel can be described as groundbreaking and will hopefully lead to more such successful projects:

Gambia’s permaculture practices promote sustainable agriculture by integrating organic farming, water management, and soil regeneration. Local communities benefit from resilient ecosystems, increased food security, and economic opportunities. Through training programs and eco-initiatives, Gambia fosters self-sufficiency while preserving biodiversity, making it a model for sustainable development in West Africa.
